The Skinwood Red version of the Schlagwerk YD445 Yambu Travel Solo cajon offers a vivid sounding alternative to a standard cajon. This percussive instrument has a 10" diameter and an approximate height of 62cm to produce a clear, bright and warm sound with a distinct colour of its own. This is only enhanced by the materials used to construct the Travel Solo: 7-ply alder shapes the sound box and Skinwood (made from goathide) has been used for the batter head. Compare it to the standard Black model, or in fact any other of the Schlagwerk-made Yambu models, and the Skinwood red not only has a deep red finished playing surface, but a higher pitched tone and a strong percussive argument.
